Cheyenne Mountain is one of Colorado's newest state parks.

The park is located in Colorado Springs, west of Highway 115 at the base of Cheyenne Mountain. The park consists of 1,680 land acres. Colorado State Parks acquired the land in June of 2000.

Architectural design work for the park Visitor Center has

been completed, and bids for buildings, entrance stations and trails are due soon.  At present, over 17 miles of natural surface hiking and biking trails have now been constructed at the park.  The scheduled public opening of Cheyenne Mountain State Park is sometime in 2006.

For the present, Cheyenne Mountain State Park remains closed to all public use.
